When I started my blog, I didn’t expect to make money from it—at least not right away.
But within a few weeks of focusing on the right strategies, I made my first $100 online… and it was one of the most motivating milestones of my life.
In this post, I’ll break down exactly how I earned my first $100 from blogging, the mistakes I avoided, and how you can follow the same steps—even if you’re brand new.
You’ve probably heard it before: “Pick a niche.”
But here’s what made the difference for me—
I chose a niche that I actually liked and had monetization potential.
My blog focused on [insert example niche—ex: personal finance, pet care, fitness tips, etc.].
I knew I could write about it consistently, and that there were products/services in that space I could promote.
I didn’t overthink it—I wrote three helpful, well-structured blog posts:
One answered a common problem in my niche
One was a “list-style” post (e.g. 10 tips, 5 steps)
One reviewed a product or service I had tried
I focused on giving real value, not fluff. I used free tools like Grammarly and Hemingway to clean up my writing.
Here’s where things got real. I joined a free affiliate program that matched my niche.
Once I got approved, I added affiliate links naturally into one of my blog posts.
No hard-selling—just genuine recommendations based on my experience.
👉 Example: “I used a course to improve a skill — here’s what happened…”
That one post alone ended up bringing in 2 sales, totaling $53.60.
To get eyes on my blog (without running ads), I:
Found 3 Facebook groups related to my niche
Answered questions and dropped blog links when relevant
Connected with other bloggers and asked for feedback
This traffic trickled in fast—and the affiliate clicks came with it.
At the end of each blog post, I added a simple CTA:
“Want more tips like this? Join my free email list.”
This started growing my list slowly, which meant I could share my blog posts and affiliate links with my readers later—and that brought in my final $46.40.
Was it fast? Not really.
Was it exciting? Absolutely.
I didn’t need a huge audience or dozens of posts. Just a solid niche, helpful content, and a few smart moves.
Making your first $100 from blogging isn’t about being perfect—it’s about starting smart, staying consistent, and knowing what works.
You don’t need to be an expert, have tech skills, or wait for years. If I can do it, so can you.
