We’ve all had those nights when sleep seems like an elusive dream.
No matter how tired I am, I often find myself lying in bed, tossing and turning, my mind racing with thoughts about the day or the endless to-do list for tomorrow.
But through trial and error, I’ve discovered several techniques that help me drift off into a restful slumber.
Here are some of my favorite ways to conquer insomnia and embrace a good night’s sleep.
One of my favorite strategies is setting my TV to sleep mode. I typically play soothing meditation music or even an 8-hour language learning video—like learning Armenian—on my Apple TV and set the sleep timer for 180 minutes.
This approach not only immerses me in calming sounds to drift off but also allows me to subconsciously absorb a new language while I sleep.
It’s the perfect blend of relaxation and gentle background noise that lulls me to sleep, all while helping me lose body fat and become a better version of myself.
On nights when my mind is racing too fast, I find that taking a long bike ride under the stars works wonders.
The cool night air is refreshing, and the rhythmic pedaling helps clear my thoughts.
The sights and sounds of the night can be incredibly calming, and by the time I return home, I feel relaxed and ready for bed.
If I’m still feeling restless, hitting the gym can be a game-changer.
A late-night workout not only helps to expend excess energy but also releases endorphins, leaving me feeling accomplished and relaxed.
There’s something about lifting weights or pushing myself on the treadmill that makes me more in tune with my body, paving the way for a more restful night.

It’s essential to choose something light and easy to watch—nothing too gripping that keeps my mind racing.
This mindless entertainment helps me unwind, and before I know it, I’m drifting off.
Reading has always been a great escape for me.
I grab a book that interests me but isn’t too stimulating, like a light novel or self-help book.
The act of reading allows my mind to focus on something other than my worries, and it often leads me to a peaceful sleep.
Plus, I find that a few pages of a good story can transport me to another world, making it easier to let go of the day’s stress.
If all else fails, I’ve discovered that taking a cold shower is surprisingly effective.
The shock of the cold water helps me reset my mind and body.
It’s invigorating but also calming, and afterward, I wrap myself in a warm towel and feel ready to curl up in bed.
The sudden temperature change can help signal to my body that it’s time to relax and unwind.
Finding the right strategies to help me sleep has been a journey, but I’ve learned that it’s about trial and error.
Whether it’s setting my TV’s sleep timer, going for a bike ride, hitting the gym, indulging in random Netflix shows, reading a book, or taking a cold shower, I’ve found effective ways to ease myself into a restful night.
